Comparison of the photocatalytic degradation of 2-propanol in gas–solid and liquid–solid systems by using TiO2–LnPc2 hybrid powders

Photocatalytic degradation of 2-propanol was carried out as a probe reaction both in gas–solid and in liquid–solid systems in the presence of TiO2 both bare and impregnated with lanthanide (Sm, Gd, Ho) bis-phthalocyanines (LnPc2) used as sensitizers. Continuous and batch photo-reactors, irradiated with an equal flux of photons, were used in gas–solid and in liquid–solid systems, respectively. Propanone and acetaldehyde were the main intermediates found in both systems during 2-propanol oxidation, whereas carbon dioxide and water were the final oxidation products exclusively in the gas–solid regime. In favour of layered feet: A response to Golston

In this response we argue that the factorial typology predicted in Martínez-Paricio & Kager (2015), which representationally relies on the existence of internally layered ternary feet, is complete and accurate. We demonstrate it does not suffer from the problematic cases of overgeneration pointed out by Golston (this issue). Additionally, we corroborate the idea that the internally layered ternary foot is a metrical representation that is typologically warranted for stress phenomena as well as for segmental and tonal metrically conditioned distributions. Cloud top altitude retrieved from Lidar measurements during ACLOUD at 1 second resolution

During the ACLOUD aircraft campaign (23.5.2017 - 26.6.2017) the AMALi Lidar was installed mostly nadir pointing. This dataset contains the cloud top altitude from those measurements (altitudes with a strong signal increase) as well as a cloud mask, derived from the optical depth of the column at 1 second resolution. The majority of the data was collected northwest of the Svalbard archipelago. More details on the campaign can be found in Wendisch 2018 and Ehrlich 2019 and here (https://home.uni-leipzig.de/~ehrlich/ACLOUD_wiki_doku). Unmet care needs are common among community-dwelling older people with memory problems in Finland

Aims: Ageing in place has become a policy priority. Consequently, residential care has been reduced, and more older people with multiple care needs reside at home with the help of informal care and home care services. An increasing share of these people has memory disorders. For adolescents with long-term illnesses or disabilities (LTID), being physically active can prevent secondary conditions. The role of atomic static displacements in binary-alloy formation

Abstract A microscopic approach to considering the influence of local atomic static displacements (LASD) on binary alloy thermodynamic properties has been developed. The explicit expression for the free energy of a disordered alloy is derived within the collective variables method. The LASD are shown to promote formation of a disordered alloy. The theory is illustrated by numerical calculations performed for alloys of the Ca–Ba system. Dependence of the alloy formation heat on temperature and concentration obtained numerically agrees perfectly with the experimental data.

Smart composite films of nanometric thickness based on copper-iodine coordination polymers. Toward sensors.

One-pot reactions between CuI and methyl or methyl 2-amino-isonicotinate give rise to the formation of two coordination polymers (CPs) based on double zig-zag Cu2I2 chains. The presence of a NH2 group in the isonicotinate ligand produces different supramolecular interactions affecting the Cu-Cu distances and symmetry of the Cu2I2 chains. These structural variations significantly modulate their physical properties. Thus, both CPs are semiconductors and also show reversible thermo/mechanoluminescence. Pore shape affects the determination of the pore size of ordered mesoporous silicas by mercury intrusion.

MCM-41 and SBA-15 micelle-templated silicas are ideal reference materials to study the effect of surface roughness on pore size measurement by mercury intrusion, as the inner surface of the mesoporous channels is much rougher in the case of SBA-15 than MCM-41. In the case of MCM-41, the pressure of mercury intrusion is related to the pore size by the classical Washburn−Laplace law, while in the case of SBA-15, the pressure of intrusion is much higher than expected and classical models underevaluate the size of the channels. Algorithms for Rational Discrete Least Squares Approximation Part I: Unconstrained Optimization

In this paper a modification of L. Wittmeyer’s method ([1], [14]) for rational discrete least squares approximation is given which corrects for its failure to converge to a non-optimal point in general. The modification makes necessary very little additional computing effort only. It is analysed thoroughly with respect to its conditions for convergence and its numerical properties. A suitable implementation is shown to be benign in the sense of F. L. Bauer [2]. The algorithm has proven successful even in adverse situations.
